Access your Apple Mobile Me iDisk with the Nokia E75
If you have an Apple Mobile Me account it is now possible to access your iDisk using the Nokia E75, (or any other S60 FP2 device)
iDisk is basically a 20GB online harddrive, instantly accessible from your Mac, it is ideal for storing files online that you might need to access when away from your computer.
Sadly the Mobile Me web interface doesn’t work on the S60 webkit browser, however if you have a Nokia E75 it is now possible to access your iDisk direct using the new ‘Remote Drives’ function.
- To setup your ‘Remote drive’ from the homescreen go to - Menu/Ctrl.Panel/Settings/Connection/Remote Drives
- Click Options/New Drive
- Name your drive, I called mine ‘iDisk’
- Now add the settings
Address: http://idisk.mac.com/your mobile me username
Access Point: Pick your access point, I left mine to ‘Always Ask’
Username: your mobile me username
Password: your mobile me password - Now click back
- Now click Options/Connect, if successful it will return back to the Remote drives screen without a warning, there is no connected indicator here.

Your iDisk is added
Ok so you have setup the connection, how do you access your iDisk
- Find the built in File Manager (Should be in the Office folder, unless you’ve moved it)
- You’ll now notice that as well as the E75 internal memory and memory card you have another entry, iDisk
- Click on it to access your iDisk (if you are not already connected it will connect now)

Browse your iDisk folders

Copy files for iDisk to phone
You can now browse the folders on your iDisk, to move files from your iDisk to your phone, select the file and click Options/Organise/Copy to folder/ then select the folder on your phone.
Copying files from your phone to your iDisk is a little more complicated, you will get an error if you try to copy a file from you phone to the iDisk, there is however a workaround.
- On your Apple Mac click the ‘Apple logo’ in the top left corner of the screen and select ‘System Preferences’
- Under ‘Internet & Network’ select ‘Mobile Me’
- Under the ‘iDisk’ tab, enable ‘Read/Write’ Access for your ‘iDisk Public Folder’

Write access is enabled to iDisk public folder
This is fantastic
This is so old. I have been using iDisk on PC via WebDAV since Windows 2000 came out.
Back then MobileMe was not even called .Mac, it was iTools and was free.
OK, here’s how to do it on Windows (in case…)
Go to Network Neighborhood – select “Add New Network Place” task in the task pane on the left.
Enter the same parameters as in the article above. Enjoy.
The point with the guide is you can now do it on a S60 FP2 phone like the E75 in addition to a Mac/PC
So you’ve allowed anyone to write to your *public* folder and not set a password?
That’s great – now anyone can stash their porn and warez under your user name.
Fail.
Is it possible to access the Remote-Drive from Music-Player to play remote saved music-files? I know you could also use UPNP for that.
Does it exist any other Remote Drives different from MobileMe? I’m looking for something free and easy to setup!
