OVI Store updated with improvements to user experience
Nokia have updated their Ovi Store with a number of useful improvements aimed at enhancing the overall user experience.
Improvements include:
- Five Star ratings for content (previously content was rated out of three stars).
- When an application is reviewed the review makes a note of the device used, for example an N97 or E52 etc
- You must have downloaded an app or game etc to review it.
- Changes to app detail page allowing more useful information and screenshots etc
You’ll need to update the Ovi Store app on your phone to access the store, you should be automatically prompted to update next time you open it.

Nokia X6 unboxing with a difference
Phone unboxing videos have always seemed to me to be rather pointless, but Ewan Spence (and special guest) over at All About Symbian once again breathes new life into a tired format with his unboxing of Nokia’s new X6 capacitive touch screened smartphone.
Basic BBC iPlayer widget for Nokia E52, E55, E72
The BBC can take some time (if ever) to allow new devices to access their TV catch up service iPlayer.
This widget is the original basic one allowing you to view streamed versions of BBC programmes in the UK, sorry no downloads or radio in this version.

Nokia N97, why it’s time for it to go…
After two months my love affair with the Nokia N97 is over, it’s been shortlived I know, but I expect certain things from my mistress’s these days and the N97 just doesn’t deliver.
I can forgive the processor speed and the low ram, in the real world they haven’t caused me any issues, my N97 has been reliable, hasn’t crashed, locked up and my camera lense isn’t scratched.
Access your Apple Mobile Me iDisk with the Nokia E75
If you have an Apple Mobile Me account it is now possible to access your iDisk using the Nokia E75, (or any other S60 FP2 device)
iDisk is basically a 20GB online harddrive, instantly accessible from your Mac, it is ideal for storing files online that you might need to access when away from your computer.
Sadly the Mobile Me web interface doesn’t work on the S60 webkit browser, however if you have a Nokia E75 it is now possible to access your iDisk direct using the new ‘Remote Drives’ function. Read more…
BBC iPlayer on the E71 inc Downloads
Please Note: Since the guide was written, the BBC have added official support for the E71, however you may still follow this guide to view the iplayer on other devices, for example the Nokia E75
If you are in the UK and you own an E71 it is now possible with a little trickery to use the latest 1.6 version of the BBC iPlayer for both streaming TV and Radio and because the E71 has the correct DRM certificates it is also possible to download programmes to your phone for viewing later.
